Cummins Behavioral Health

Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is a private not-for-profit organization providing behavioral health services in Boone, Hendricks, Marion, Montgomery, Putnam, and surrounding counties in Central and West Central Indiana.  Established in 1971, Cummins provides care to persons of all ages in a variety of office and community-based settings.

The mission of Cummins Behavioral Health Systems Inc. is to inspire the hope of recovery; to achieve excellence in all aspects of care; and to make the goals and aspirations of those we serve our highest priority.

Services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness involves individuals, their families, other natural supports, medical providers, and other community partners involved in the person’s recovery.

  • Recovery and Rehabilitation: Recovery and rehabilitation treatment provides intensive outpatient services provided by therapists, medical services, and life skills specialists. Through coordinated interdisciplinary care, services are provided in the office, home, and community at a level of intensity commensurate with recovery needs and goals.
  • Employment and Volunteerism Program: Employment specialists provide pre-employment skills training, referral and linkage to vocational rehabilitation services, and employment services to individuals with the goal of employment. Additionally, Cummins views community volunteerism as a meaningful endeavor for persons seeking to feel connected to others and the greater community. Community volunteerism may also be viewed as a milestone toward a future goal of employment.
  • Peer Recovery Services: Peer recovery services are provided by Indiana Certified Recovery Specialists who self-identify as being in recovery. Through the role of being a peer mentor, Certified Recovery Specialists connect with persons served with regard to understanding recovery, overcoming barriers to engagement, and defining what recovery means on a personal level.
