Daybreak Community Services

The Daybreak Group of Companies began in 1978 with the opening of the Lancaster Residential Center, a large Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/ID) for individuals with developmental disabilities. In the late 80’s and 90’s, seven additional ICF/ID homes were opened in Dallas County. Lancaster Residential Center voluntarily downsized in 2010 to enable the consumers there to live in smaller, group home settings.
Daybreak Community Services, Inc. was founded in 1997 to provide a wide array of Home and Community-based (HCS Medicaid-funded waiver) services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Since that time, Daybreak has experienced rapid growth.  At the end of the first year of operation, 48 individuals received HCS services from Daybreak. Eight Daybreak group homes were opened that year in Fort Worth and Lubbock, Texas.  Daybreak has continued to expand services all over Texas during the last decade.
Daybreak now operates almost 150 HCS waiver and ICF/ID group homes as well as providing services in individual‘s own homes, foster care settings and day habilitation sites. Services to over 1100 people throughout Texas are currently provided by Daybreak through the ICF/ID, HCS, Texas Home Living, and Deaf/Blind Multi-disability Medicaid Waivers, and through private pay and third-party contract payers. Throughout the state, services are developed under the direction of individuals with extensive backgrounds in Developmental Disability programs. The Daybreak Group management team has extensive experience in developing and managing programs for people with disabilities.

Daybreak maintains a long-term commitment to provide innovative supports and community services to people with disabilities. Daybreak’s solid foundation supports an environment in which each person may make and achieve goals, while experiencing community life at its fullest
