ndividuals in psychiatric crisis who may be at risk of hurting themselves or others can receive assistance by calling (217) 935-9496. During evening and overnight hours, calls may be answered by an answering service (PATH). A crisis counselor will be available by telephone within 15 minutes and, if needed, in person within one hour. Crisis services can be requested by the person in crisis, a family member, clergy, physicians, emergency room staff, or local law enforcement.
Crisis assessments are usually facilitated at Dr. John Warner Hospital Emergency Room where other appropriate medical services are available. Crisis services are also available during business hours on a walk-in basis at our facility at 1150 State Route 10 West. Crisis counselors will facilitate hospitalizations when appropriate. Charges are based on a sliding fee scale and are often covered by private insurance or Medicaid.
