Gateway Behavioral Health Services

Who We Are

Gateway Behavioral Health Services is a public agency created by State law to provide mental health, developmental disabilities and addictive diseases services. The service area of the agency encompasses Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties along the Georgia coast. Board members are appointed by the County Commissioners and are composed of at least 50% consumers or family members who represent the interests of those we serve and reflect the social and demographic characteristics of the eight county area.

Mission

The mission of Gateway is to promote and provide quality customer driven, cost effective services necessary to prevent and reduce the disabling effects of mental illness, mental retardation and substance abuse for persons in greatest need in the Counties of Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh.

Value

Gateway believes in the importance of servicing people. It believes in the importance of preventing and reducing mental disabilities where possible. It believes in the importance of advocating and promoting the development of needed MH/MR/SA services. It believes in the importance of providing services which promote the freedom and dignity of the persons served. It believes in the importance of providing a continuum of services which promote and maintain a positive approach to mental health. Gateway believes in the importance of providing community-based services to those consumers most in need.

Vision

Gateway’s vision is to be the leading provider of comprehensive community-based services for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases in the State of Georgia.
