Harvard Dermatology Residency

The program’s mission is to train leaders in dermatology, promote innovation, and foster excellence in research, clinical care, and teaching. We serve the local community through compassionate, cutting-edge patient care and the global community through the development of new knowledge. Our culture supports personal growth, career development, collaboration, and life-long learning.

Our training program is among the oldest and most respected in the world. Four principal Harvard teaching hospitals, each a world leader in patient care, education, and research, comprise the core training experience,. The program was originally established at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). During 1960-1987, the program grew to include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC); Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH); Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB); Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI); Lahey Clinic (LC); and the Boston VA HealthCare System (VA). Today, all of these institutions provide residents with integral opportunities to work with outstanding educators and clinical leaders in many subspecialty fields. Our diverse patient population provides our trainees with the experience to treat both common and uncommon diseases of the skin
