Jefferson Center began serving the Front Range in 1958. At a time when institutionalization in state mental hospitals was the common response to individuals with severe or persistent mental illness, Jefferson Center was at the forefront of compassionate and community-based care.
Today, as was true then, serving the community is at the core of everything Jefferson Center does. Over the last 60 years, Jefferson Center has continued to fulfill its mission to inspire hope, improve lives, and strengthen our community by providing mental health and substance use services for individuals and families.
Jefferson Center’s services include outpatient counseling (individual, family, and group), 24-hour emergency services, hospital-alternative programs, case management, substance use services, and school-based counseling. Services are provided at 24 clinical locations and in many community settings (e.g. schools, physical healthcare offices and clinics, community centers, foster homes), and include wellness classes, recovery-focused support groups, withdrawal management, employment services, homeless prevention assistance, and parenting skills training and other family supports.
