Healthcare Hospitals

Madison Hospital

Located in the city of Madison in western Madison County, Madison Hospital opened on Feb. 28, 2012, with the future in mind. We are now a 90-bed hospital and can grow alongside the community … up to about 200 beds. As a not-for-profit health care provider, all revenue is reinvested to provide advanced medical services and equipment. Madison Hospital is a member of Huntsville Hospital Health System.

Breast Center

The City of Madison’s first breast imaging center opened in December 2012 to provide screening mammography in a convenient location. We also offer bone density screenings and 3D screening mammograms.

Facts about Madison Hospital Breast Center:

  • Equipped with the only clinically superior 3D mammography technology approved by the FDA
  • A satellite facility of Huntsville Hospital Breast Center
  • Accredited in mammography by the American College of Radiology
  • Perfect score on the Mammography Quality Standards Act

Scheduling your annual screening mammogram is easy – just call (256) 801-6283.

The American College of Radiology and the American Cancer Society recommend that women begin annual screening mammograms at age 40. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends that all women over the age of 65 should consider bone density testing.

Breastfeeding Classes:

We support exclusive breastfeeding because of the proven health benefits. Our certified lactation specialists offer breastfeeding classes to help expectant mothers learn about the significant benefits of breastfeeding, what to expect at the first breastfeeding session and strategies for breastfeeding success. This is a one-time, two hour class.

Childbirth Classes:

Our childbirth classes are designed to help parents prepare for baby’s arrival. This class includes a tour of the Maternity Department at Madison Hospital, stages of labor, types of medication, anesthesia and postpartum care.

Jean Wessel Templeton Community Health Initiative:

In 1995, the Health Care Authority of the City of Huntsville appointed a Community Health Initiative (CHI) committee. The committee is made up of volunteers representing a cross-section of the community and strives to improve the health status of the citizens of Madison County through education, prevention and early detection of disease.

In June of 1996, the first CHI grants were made to address the community’s priority health issues with hopes that a measurable, positive impact would be seen on the overall health of our community. Since its inception, more than $10.5 million has been awarded to 47 local agencies.
