Pillars Community Health

Pillars is a not-for-profit social service organization formed through the July 2006 merger of Community Care Options (1928) and Pillars Community Services (1968). Pillars keeps our communities healthy and strong by providing quality, comprehensive, community-based services for individuals and families who are facing challenges and crisis.

Pillars utilizes a community wraparound approach, offering a wide spectrum of fully-integrated services that collectively offer the strongest possible safety net. Fees are collected on a sliding scale. Many services are bilingual and all are provided without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, income level, gender, age, or disability.  Last year, Pillars served nearly 10,000 people in suburban Cook County, eastern DuPage County, and Chicago.

Pillars aspires to build healthier communities by making connections and changing lives.  We build healthier communities by providing quality mental health services, social services and education for people of all ages.

On any given day, we are providing quality health care and restorative dental care, counseling those recovering from opioid abuse, empowering clients with mental illness, sheltering families from domestic violence, changing the conversation about sexual assault on college campuses, and teaching young children who are enrolled in preschool—and these are just some examples of the work we do, work that is so needed in our communities. At the heart of all of it is our desire to heal, care, and educate; to stand as strong as pillars on behalf of every person who is reaching for a better future; to influence the whole health of the people we serve and bring about a healthier community.

Pillars Community Health was created by the merger of Pillars and Community Nurse Health Center in January 2018. Together we can trace our history back to 1921 through predecessor agencies. Now as one organization, we are working to make the vision of a healthy community a reality, by addressing the whole health of individuals and families in the western and southwestern suburbs of Chicago. Our compassionate staff is making the vision of a healthy community a reality by empowering individuals and families to pursue health, wellness, and independence.
