Rapides Foundation

The mission of The Rapides Foundation is to improve the health status of Central Louisiana.

Our vision is to positively impact Central Louisiana by deploying resources to improve key factors of health status.

A major change for the system in 2009 was the sale of its three rural hospitals – Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville, Oakdale Community Hospital in Oakdale and Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield – to Progressive Acute Care L.L.C. Also, in 2009, RHS transitioned its operations lease of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou to Savoy Medical Group and the Town of Mamou. These actions by RHS gave those hospitals a chance to customize healthcare for patients in their communities and gave them the best possible opportunity for continued success and growth.
