CHI Franciscan Health has joined with Northwest Physician Network, an association of local independent community physicians, to form an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) to ensure Medicare Fee-For-Service beneficiaries in the South Sound have access to high-quality, coordinated care. Called Franciscan Northwest Physicians Health Network, it is the first ACO in the South Puget Sound area and the second in the state. Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, more than 250 ACOs have been established nationally.
