Fundamental
Although our financing capabilities are broad and our experience in delivering them to our clients is deep, we are most proud of the reputation we have earned for providing unmatched client service, taking an entrepreneurial approach towards solving their financing challenges and maintaining an uncompromising commitment to the highest standards of ethics and business integrity.
Fundamental Financial is member in good standing of the International Factoring Association and the Commercial Finance Association, the two leading professional associations for our industry.
Founded in 2007, our firm has grown to become one of the largest alternative asset managers in the municipal marketplace with approximately $3 billion¹ of assets under management.
We employ private equity-style control strategies as well as more liquid, opportunistic credit strategies, both common in the corporate and distressed worlds, but otherwise uncommon in the municipal market. By applying our patient capital, adaptive strategies, and total return focus to a fragmented and inefficient market, we are able to capitalize on a growing opportunity set.
Founded in 2007 by Laurence Gottlieb along with Dana Fusaris, Fundamental Partners (“FP”) is an opportunistic private investment strategy focused on special situations in the municipal market and public purpose assets. Portfolio positions are often critical to the community and include affordable housing, senior care, infrastructure, alternative energy and hospitality.
FP’s investments take many forms, including distressed municipal debt, controlling interests in real assets and direct lending to other bespoke specialty finance transactions. On an opportunistic basis, FP also seeks to acquire minority interests in municipal securities that are mispriced due to technical dislocations or idiosyncratic factors
Launched in 2013 by Hector Negroni, Fundamental Credit Opportunities (“FCO”) capitalizes on the lasting and recurring inefficiencies across the municipal markets and government finance. Investment themes cut across the entire spectrum of the municipal market, from liquid relative value to idiosyncratic credit to highly structured and distressed investments. The strategy focuses on developing concentrated convictions in asymmetric return profiles while minimizing correlations and drawdown risks.
To execute on this strategy, FCO combines a team of experienced professionals with decades of demonstrated expertise in sourcing, analyzing, structuring and executing across a range of product types. FCO employs an agnostic, unbiased investment mandate within the municipal securities market and a sophisticated, rigorous investment process.
