Albert Einstein Healthcare Network® started with just 22 beds in 1866 as the Jewish Hospital. In 2016, we celebrated our 150th year of service to the community.

In 1952, the Jewish Hospital merged with two others in the city—Mount Sinai and Northern Liberties hospitals. Taking on the name of renowned scientist Albert Einstein—who graciously gave his permission —the new network eventually grew to what it is today: a private, not-for-profit organization with several major hospitals, many outpatient centers and numerous primary care and specialty care locations throughout the Philadelphia region.

We began with what was, in the late 1800s, a remarkable and forward-thinking creed: to provide medical care to “the sick and wounded without regard to creed, color or nationality.”

Today, we continue to honor that legacy, and our primary mission remains true to the founders’ intent—and our health system has grown and evolved in ways they could not have imagined. We proudly provide compassionate, high-quality healthcare throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, and have gained a reputation for excellence and innovation.

Our Albert Einstein Healthcare Network® facilities include:

  • Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa. —Largest independent academic medical center in the Philadelphia region. Offers advanced treatment in heart and vascular care, stroke, radiation oncology, breast health, and more.
  • Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, Ekins Park, Pa. —Full-service medical and surgical specialty hospital in suburban Montgomery County. Offers orthopedics, bariatrics, urology and other service.
  • Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, East Norriton, Pa. —Offers advanced cardiac services, cancer care, orthopedic services, minimally invasive and robotic surgery and family-centered maternity care.
  • MossRehab —Locations throughout Philadelphia and Montgomery County. World-renowned for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative programs for brain and spinal cord injury, stroke, neurological disorders, amputation and orthopedic conditions.
