Main Line Health selects Epic for its replacement system

In this week’s HDM roundup of new technology contracts and deployments, Epic wins another deal but so does Cerner.

  •  to centralize patient communication with providers, seamless integration between inpatient and outpatient systems, easy navigation and increased opportunities for research, according to the delivery system. Go-live is projected for early 2018.
  • Dignity Health, which uses the inpatient Cerner Millennium EHR, will deploy the vendor’s ambulatory electronic records systems across all clinics. The project will give patients a single patient portal, and the organization will create a unified patient record.
    • Lawrence + Memorial Healthcare in Connecticut, which includes Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island, will implement the Vue for Clinical Collaboration Platform of medical imaging vendor Carestream Health. The delivery system conducts more than 200,000 imaging studies annually. The product supports staff and clinicians with preferred platforms and screens for each workflow and setting. Reports generated on the platform include graphical charts and trending data to help clinicians better understand patients’ conditions.
    • Aventura, a vendor of situational awareness software to secure and personalize clinical desktops, will use the single-sign-on software of HealthCast. The Aventura software knows who the user of a desktop is, their location and the patient being cared for to authenticate and provide access to electronic health records.
    • Steward Healthcare System is replacing its pagers with secure messaging software from Imprivata. While pagers have long been the organization’s communication tool of choice, they limit clinicians being able to connect effectively, according to Steward Healthcare CIO Julie Berry. The American Hospital Association endorsed the software in 2015.
    • Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and Midwest Regional Children’s Advocacy Centers at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota have both implemented the ProNet cloud-based collaboration and data management platform of XIFIN Inc. The platform will aid physicians and radiologists in exchanging images and reports to investigate and treat child abuse.
