May 13 : UW Medicine Engages Versio to Enhance Patient Safety/Physician Productivity

Versio by ScribeRight (Versio) announces their selection as the solution provider for legacy data migration in the deployment of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system at UW Medicine.

UW Medicine will be bringing their new EHR online within their regional clinics in May 2014 and has engaged Versio to provide a solution that will bring critical patient data into the new system prior to deployment. Medications, allergies, immunizations, and problems are the data sets that will be migrated into Epic with a goal of enhancing patient safety and improved clinical decision-making, while allowing physicians to be more productive. Versio’s history of producing complete and accurate records led to UW Medicine’s decision to award them the project as a result of a lengthy RFP process.

“Most migration companies cannot capture all of the data,” said CEO Lisa Pike, “and in the conversion process they fall short of translating the real meaning from the legacy record. We are pleased that the leadership of UW Medicine recognizes how our service will ensure the safety of their patients and will enhance physician adoption of the new electronic health record by providing 100% data capture and near-perfect accuracy. We call it ‘No data left behind.'”

About Versio: The Renton firm has been at the forefront of quality healthcare documentation since it was established as ScribeRight Transcription Agency in 2000, and it continues to meet the dynamic needs of the industry today. The company has adopted the new name Versio to reflect the company’s expanded service offerings. Medical data are full of inconsistencies that make it hard for conventional technology to convert it accurately. The Versio program utilizes a suite of proprietary technologies and processes, combined with detailed human review in the form of knowledgeable and experienced medical data translation specialists. This hybrid approach forms an extra layer of quality control, providing clients with results that are unmatched in the industry. The process can also be applied to paper medical records.

About UW Medicine: UW Medicine’s mission is to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, providing outstanding primary and specialty care to the people of the region, and preparing tomorrow’s physicians, scientists and other health professionals.

UW Medicine owns or operates Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, a network of nine UW Neighborhood Clinics that provide primary care and secondary care, the physician practice UW Physicians, the UW School of Medicine and Airlift Northwest. UW School of Medicine has been ranked as one of the top primary-care medical schools in the country since 1994.
