MetroHealth, Hyland partner to enhance health care technology

MetroHealth, Hyland partner

The MetroHealth System and Hyland have teamed up to develop new software and improve current software in health care.

The effort, coined the Alliance Program, will focus on areas including administrative items, such as finance and billing, as well as patient information and electronic health records.

MetroHealth also will test new Hyland technology to help identify possible improvements and will become a site to showcase the products it’s using from the software company, according to a news release.

“The Alliance Program capitalizes on MetroHealth’s nationally recognized expertise in utilizing new technology to improve care,” said Dr. Akram Boutros, president and CEO of MetroHealth, in a statement. “The information sharing and software development we will pioneer with Hyland will help hospitals, nationwide, to work more efficiently and effectively, and ultimately benefit all patients.”

Hyland will collaborate with clinicians and administrators at MetroHealth to explore how processes can be more efficient, according to the release.

The information gathered through the program will be used to develop new technology and offer solutions for MetroHealth’s specific needs. It also gives Hyland a chance to evaluate how effectively its software is used and to guide MetroHealth in ways to better use its products.

Since 2004 when Hyland and MetroHealth began working together with the OnBase platform for electronic health information sharing, MetroHealth has been recognized for the completeness of its electronic medical records and for its use of health IT to improve patient outcomes.

“Hyland is excited to expand our longtime partnership with MetroHealth by standing up a program that will benefit the entirety of the health care technology industry,” said Bill Priemer, president and CEO of Hyland, in a statement. “By creating a showcase for health care technology best practices, both organizations will yield results that can help effectively drive continuous enhancements to help deliver the highest level of patient care.”
