M*Modal Enhances Fluency Direct Front-End Speech Solution for Physicians

cleveland clinic

M*Modal, a leading provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding™ solutions, today announced enhancements to its Fluency Direct front-end speech software. Improvements in system customization, platform integration, speech understanding and software management can help physicians and healthcare professionals more quickly and easily create high-quality clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

M*Modal will be demonstrating Fluency Direct at the 2015 HIMSS conference, being held April 12-16 in Chicago (booth #2243).

Fluency Direct is cloud-based software that allows healthcare providers to verbally create and edit patient narratives directly in EHR templates. The solution leverages M*Modal’s Speech Understanding and Natural Language Understanding technologies to combine highly accurate speech recognition with embedded clinical documentation improvement (CDI) capabilities.

“As hospitals continue to look for ways to improve productivity and get the most out of their EHR investment, M*Modal’s Fluency Direct can play a huge role in increasing system adoption and physician satisfaction,” said Scott MacKenzie, CEO of M*Modal. “With these new features, Fluency Direct offers a cost-effective, easy to use platform for creating high-quality patient records.”

M*Modal’s Fluency Direct software is interoperable with over 80 leading EHRs — including Epic, Cerner, Meditech, CPSI, McKesson and Allscripts — and was recently ranked among the top front-end speech recognition solutions by market analyst firm KLAS.

Enhancements to Fluency Direct include:

  • Better EHR integration and customization. New command capabilities to handle previously complex and variable tasks.
  • Improved efficiency. New functionality to greatly reduce the amount of time necessary to personalize and train the system.
  • Embedded CDI. Fluency Direct’s Computer Assisted Physician Documentation (CAPD) is now integrated with M*Modal’s CDI platform, providing real-time messaging and alerting to improve patient record accuracy.
  • Easy installation, deployment and maintenance. Further enhanced deployment flexibility and scalability to allow expanded support for application streaming, virtual desktops and thin clients.

Fluency Direct is designed from the ground up to specifically recognize healthcare terminology, execute voice-based navigation and system commands, and allow physicians to access their trained voice profiles anytime and across a variety of devices.

M*Modal’s speech platform processes the documentation of more than 200,000 physicians every day, and its portfolio of clinical documentation products are supported by in-house adoption and implementation service teams.

M*Modal Fluency Direct is available now with these enhancements. Contact M*Modal at 1-866-542-7253 for discount schedules and user licensing terms.
