M*Modal Launches Comprehensive Clinical Documentation Improvement Platform

m*modal’s solutions

Physician-friendly CDI software and services deliver consistent, sustainable improvements in documentation practices

Franklin, Tennessee – April 7, 2015 – M*Modal, a leading provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding™ solutions, today announced a full suite of clinical documentation improvement (CDI) software and adoption services. M*Modal offers a general-purpose data aggregation, analytics and physician engagement platform configured for CDI, providing a cost-effective way for hospitals to enhance clinical report quality, productivity and patient outcomes.

M*Modal will be demonstrating its CDI solutions at the 2015 HIMSS conference, being held April 12-16 in Chicago (booth #2243).

M*Modal’s cloud-based CDI solutions are built into transcription, front-end speech and back-end CDI specialist (CDIS) processes to improve the quality of the clinical note using existing systems and workflows. This integrated platform combines documentation improvement directly with the report creation process, identifying deficiencies, gaps and improvement opportunities at the time of documentation. By linking CDI with coding workflows, M*Modal’s solutions enable central management of reporting requirements, for higher case coverage and better efficiency.

“The combination of M*Modal’s flexible, clinical documentation platform with adoption services supports hospitals in their documentation improvement programs  and getting the most out of their electronic medical record systems,” said Scott MacKenzie, CEO of M*Modal. “M*Modal’s CDI suite meets providers at their state of readiness with the ability to blend into existing workflows, customize to the organization’s goals and needs, and expand CDI coverage systematically.”

M*Modal helps healthcare organizations solve their CDI challenges in three ways, through bundled technology and services to achieve targeted outcomes:

  • Assess: Using natural language understanding technology to convert transcription data into information that is shareable, sortable and searchable, hospitals gain access to large volumes of patient data trapped in the narrative. This allows them to identify documentation improvement opportunities and target actions related to physician education, certain conditions, etc.
  • Engage: M*Modal solutions embed CDI into the document creation workflow with automated, real-time feedback delivered to clinicians as they dictate or type into the EMR. Front-end CDI and central control of documentation practices across an enterprise ensure context-dependent feedback that is less disruptive to physicians. M*Modal’s solutions educate physicians to document for better clinical care, compliance and coding, including the upcoming ICD-10 standard.
  • Collaborate: M*Modal offers a back-end CDIS workflow management and clinical intelligence solution to boost efficiency, automation and data centralization. This solution also delivers automated abstraction capabilities, prioritized daily worklists, summarized evidence of clinical indicators, and reporting tools to expand existing CDI coverage while improving collaboration between coders and CDIS.

M*Modal’s portfolio of clinical documentation products are supported by high-quality adoption and implementation services. In-house documentation specialists are focused on delivering outcomes and value to hospitals while optimizing the user experience.

M*Modal’s CDI solutions are available now, with flexible deployment models to run in different architectures, including Citrix-based desktop and application virtualization environments.
