Modernizing Medicine, Inc., the creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), a cloud-based, specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) system, announced its CEO and Co-founder Daniel Cane has been recognized as the Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. The Greater Miami Chamber announced the winners of its annual Technology Leaders of the Year Awards at Jungle Island on Tuesday, April 28.

“I am honored to be named the Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce,” said Cane. “I share this honor with my Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Sherling, as well as the entire dedicated team at Modernizing Medicine who continue to drive our success. We have experienced tremendous growth over the past five years and I’m looking forward to the work that lies ahead both for the company and the South Florida tech community.”

The Technology Leaders of the Year Awards highlight individuals and organizations with extraordinary technological hands-on experience whose management of technology resources and/or technological innovations have made outstanding contributions to their organization and the community. These leaders guide the effective use of technology to improve their company’s business performance or to develop new markets or products and have made significant positive contributions to the South Florida technology community.

Modernizing Medicine’s EMA, which functions as the chief solution for specialty-physicians or the front end interface for enterprise users, is uniquely suited to support physicians in the recent push away from fee-for-service healthcare models towards outcome-based reimbursements. With rich capabilities for Meaningful Use attestation and built-in ICD-10 functionality, nearly 40,000 physicians and health providers across the nation use EMA. Modernizing Medicine’s data-driven, specialty-specific electronic health record (EHR) system can help physicians in dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, rheumatology, gastroenterology and urology achieve better treatment outcomes and better business results for their practices. EMA has previously been recognized as a top EHR system, most recently by receiving the #1 ranking on Black Book Market Research’s top EHR list in the dermatology space.

Details about the “Technology Leaders of the Year” award and the full list of honorees are available on the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce website.
