mWell and DICT to incorporate digital health services into the eGov PH app

Metro Pacific Investments Corp.’s (MPIC) digital healthcare platform, mWell, has teamed up with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to integrate digital health services into the government’s eGov PH app.

According to a statement on Wednesday, this partnership aims to create the country’s first national digital health integration within a government platform, allowing users to access doctors, medical records, and other health services online.

Through a memorandum of understanding, DICT and mWell will work together to incorporate a digital Health ID into the eGov PH app. This will provide users with access to primary care physicians, specialists, and mental health professionals, as well as secure viewing and storage of their medical records.

“This collaboration supports the government’s Digital Philippines agenda by bringing healthcare closer to Filipinos, no matter where they are,” said DICT Secretary Henry R. Aguda.

Chaye Cabal-Revilla, President and CEO of mWell, added that the integration aims to build a unified digital network connecting the government, healthcare providers, and patients.

mWell has been partnering with DICT to reach remote and isolated communities through its OnTheGo Clinic-In-A-Bag program, which offers telemedicine services to underserved areas including indigenous populations and soldiers in conflict zones. The company has also launched drone-based medicine delivery and BangkaHealth, a telemedicine service for coastal communities in Sulu.

As part of the MPIC group, mWell operates an AI-powered digital clinic and electronic medical records platform. It recently expanded its telemedicine and e-prescription capabilities by acquiring KonsultaMD.

MPIC Chairman, President, and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan stated that the partnership will help accelerate the nationwide expansion of mWell’s services.

MPIC is a major Philippine subsidiary of Hong Kong-based First Pacific Co. Ltd., which also has stakes in Philex Mining Corp. and PLDT Inc.
