Netsmart Acquires Trend Consulting Services

Netsmart Acquires Trend Consulting Services

Netsmart Technologies announced today that it has acquired Trend Consulting Services.

“We’re the catalyst that enables our clients to optimize their IT investment and fully align it with organizational strategy”

Netsmart, based in Overland Park, Kan., is the leading provider of post-acute electronic health records (EHRs) and coordinated care technology solutions for health and human services providers nationwide. Trend, based in Solon, Ohio, provides comprehensive information technology (IT) outsourcing and infrastructure support services. Trend was established in 1978 and has a long, successful history serving clients across a number of market sectors.

The acquisition of Trend provides additional resources and expertise for Netsmart to manage the entire range of IT services for its clients, including a centrally-managed 24x7x365 help desk, data center systems management, technical infrastructure management (including field-based support of local devices), application management technology, leadership services, management consulting services and on-premise CIO services.

The acquisition also complements Netsmart’s current managed services strategy, designed to help clients reduce cost and increase efficiency in their IT operations and infrastructure. A newly-formed Netsmart Solutions Management Services business unit will have a dedicated strategic and operational focus on outsourcing and related services.

“We’re the catalyst that enables our clients to optimize their IT investment and fully align it with organizational strategy,” said Mike Valentine, Netsmart chief executive officer. “The addition of Trend’s outsourcing services and expertise enables us to provide our markets even more cost-effective and efficient services across the entire IT lifecycle, whether or not they use a Netsmart CareRecord™ (EHR). For current Netsmart clients, the addition of Trend expands our services that allow them to fully optimize their CareRecord. The overall result is ultimate alignment – the opportunity for a shared team that measures success in identical ways, and a continuation of our journey to be a comprehensive technology partner for our clients.”

The outsourcing capabilities round out Netsmart’s range of managed services, which includes Plexus™ Hosting, behavioral health’s largest Cloud hosting solution, serving more than 2,000 facilities with secure, high availability SSAE16 – SOC 1,2 compliant hosting. The combined range of IT services are part of the Netsmart IT Management Continuum, which includes systems management, technology management, application management and optimization management.

“The Netsmart IT Management Continuum provides clients with a selection of services to simplify their IT spend and focus resources and dollars on advancing their core businesses,” said Phil Martino, Netsmart vice president focused on the IT Management Continuum. Martino previously served as executive vice president of Trend. “Joining the Netsmart family provides Trend clients with an expanded range of solutions and services, including highly-secure Cloud hosting services, comprehensive EHRs and services that enable the sharing of authorized health data across care settings for integrated, coordinated care.”
