Nitor Group, Secure Exchange Solutions & Updox First to Certify EHR Software

nitor group

Respective products are compliant with recently expanded 2014 Edition health IT certification criteria under ONC-ACB program

Today at HIMSS15, Drummond Group LLC announced that electronic health records (EHR) software applications from Nitor Group, Secure Exchange Solutions, Inc., and Updox, LLC, are Drummond Certified™ as the first health information services providers (HISPs) to complete testing within the new 2014 Edition Release 2 criteria under the EHR Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) program. Their respective products are compliant in accordance with the recently expanded 2014 Edition health IT certification criteria announced by the ONC which for the first time adds criteria focused exclusively on secure transports, specifically the §170.314(h)(1) criterion of Direct Messaging transport standard.

HISPs are organizations that manage security and transport for health information exchange among healthcare entities or individuals using the Direct Messaging transport standard. HISP functions can be performed by existing organizations (such as EHR vendors, hospitals or HIE organizations) or by standalone organizations specializing in HISP services.

ONC’s 2014 Edition Release 2 criteria provides more flexibility, clarity, and enhance health information exchange for all stakeholders and encourages further innovation within the HIT industry. Release 2 decouples the summary care creation and content functionality from the secure transport capabilities. This allows for greater flexibility in marketplace choices for providers in achieving interoperability within their networks.

“The government’s program is maturing and, therefore, becoming more demanding, as it is positioning itself to enable healthcare providers to truly transform how care is delivered. As a result, software developers are being challenged to develop systems with advanced patient engagement, data transfer and interoperability functionality,” says Rik Drummond, CEO, Drummond Group. “Our experience testing complex software in a variety of industries makes it possible for us to bring the sophisticated testing and certification services that the healthcare industry now needs to reach these ambitious goals.”
