Nov 07 : VorroHealth announced today it has successfully upgraded Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation

vorrohealth

VorroHealth, a provider of clinical and interoperable technology for healthcare, announced today it has successfully upgraded Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation, a 220-bed skilled nursing facility in Oklahoma City, to the NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6 data exchange standard.

The upgrade was mandated by a change in the e-Prescribing Rule by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) which lifted the exemption to the NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6 standard for long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) providers. With this upgrade, Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation now maintains a seamless bi-directional exchange with OmniCare pharmacies.

“VorroHealth has a proven track record of data exchange and data management,” said David Thompson, owner and administrator, Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation. “Because their EHR system is both interoperable and extendable, it is easily configured to meet rapidly changing regulations and clinical demands. Having a fully interoperable EHR built on advanced technology helped us easily comply with the new CMS mandate.”

Since CMS lifted the long-term care e-Prescribing Rule exemption, all vendors that provide medication management and administration software are required to update the bi-directional interfaces that are in place between their EMRs and the pharmacies their EMR customers use. Effective November 1, LTPAC providers can no longer use legacy HL7 or a custom interface, nor can they use a computer-generated fax to submit orders to pharmacies. While other vendors may still be updating required interfaces well after the deadline, VorroHealth EHR clients are now enabled to interface with their partner pharmacies.

Ensuring the accurate exchange of critical medication and prescription information with the pharmacies that serve LTPAC communities is a complex undertaking requiring comprehensive testing of bi-directional interfaces. VorroHealth has tested their EHR system’s interface with all the pharmacies integrated with their EHR. Updating the interface between the VorroHealth EHR and pharmacies in the long-term care continuum was seamless because the fully interoperable EHR is powered by BridgeGate Health technology, the nation’s most advanced healthcare systems integration technology used by Golden Living, Care One and several public HIEs.

“By leveraging our advanced integration technologies we extend our partner pharmacies’ competitive position, enhance the care their providers’ deliver and enable all to comply with rapidly changing regulatory mandates,” said Tom Bang, CEO, VorroHealth. “Today, connectivity is an EHR vendor investment requirement. We stand ready to assist any healthcare organization to share data and are proud to lead the market with an innovative spirit focused on improving care.”

About VorroHealth
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, VorroHealth (formerly BlueStep/BridgeGate Health) delivers technology solutions to long term and post-acute care (LTPAC) communities and across the healthcare continuum to improve quality of care for residents and patients. Because ensuring the highest level of care requires open connectivity and collaboration, VorroHealth acquired two innovative technologies: BlueStep, a configurable, web-based application platform that includes a native, LTPAC-specific EHR that connects all users (including residents and their families) and BridgeGate, the nation’s most advanced healthcare systems integration technology used by Golden Living, Care One and several public HIEs.
