Implementation expected to streamline processes,Cloud-Based EHR improve communication between locations as well as emphasize preventative care

Rush Health, a Chicago-based health network, has selected eClinicalWorks EHR, a cloud-based solution, for its more than 300 affiliated private physician members. The implementation is expected to streamline processes and improve communication between locations as well as emphasize preventative care within provider-to-patient interactions.

The health system sought a technology solution to improve continuity of care across multiple settings, choosing Westborough, Massachusetts-based eClinicalWorks due to its leadership in ambulatory healthcare IT solutions and as well as in e-prescribing. “Rush Health works as a team to improve health through high-quality, efficient health services for patient care, including prevention and complex care management,” said Brent Estes, president and CEO of Rush Health. “After an in-depth evaluation, we determined eClinicalWorks would aid our providers in delivering these services due to care coordination functionality inherent in the solution and the benefits its current customers are receiving.” In the past six years, the HIMSS Davies Award for excellence in EHR implementation has been presented to nine eClinicalWorks customers.

Delivered in a cloud environment, eClinicalWorks offers clinical decision support features and alerts and improves care as critical patient information is available to all providers. Rush Health is subsidizing the cost of the implementation which will aid providers in meeting both meaningful use and Patient-Centered Medical Home goals at Rush. “Our capabilities in managing the provider, population, and patient will aid Rush Health in offering more collaborative care based on real-time information from multiple sources across its network,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks.

A clinically-integrated network of more than 1,000 providers and 3 hospitals, Rush Health serves the Chicago area. Rush University Medical Center, with 664 beds, is a research and teaching hospital with more than 6,000 employees and faculty. A Leapfrog Group “Top Hospital”, the flagship facility has Magnet status for nursing excellence and was named in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” and Health & Hospital Networks “Most Wired Hospitals.” Rush Oak Park Hospital is a community hospital serving Chicago’s west side and western suburbs. And, Rush-Copley Medical Center is a 210-bed tertiary medical center with more accreditation and disease-specific certifications than any other hospital in the Chicago area. source
