Practice Fusion, the #1 cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) platform, today announced the hiring of Steve Filler as the company’s new chief operating officer and the promotion of Octavia Petrovici as senior vice president of product management. These new hirings and promotions follow Practice Fusion’s recent hiring of Tom Langan as permanent chief executive officer and mark a further expansion of the company’s leadership team.
As chief operating officer, Steve Filler will be responsible for Practice Fusion’s strategic business planning. He joins Practice Fusion from management consulting firm Oliver Wyman, where he served as a partner in the Health and Life Science and Strategic IT and Ops divisions. Filler also previously served as a medical group and hospital administrator. During Filler’s tenure as a healthcare administrator and in his role consulting, he has worked with several health systems, including UCSD, Partners Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, and Stanford Hospital and Clinics, to help improve their clinical performance. Filler holds a master’s of Healthcare Administration and master’s of Public Health, both from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor of arts degree from Lawrence University. As COO, Filler’s healthcare industry and consulting experiences will be a valuable asset in expanding on Practice Fusion’s growth strategies and continuing to build partnerships with key healthcare ecosystem players.
Octavia Petrovici joined Practice Fusion in 2012 and currently oversees the company’s product management function. As Practice Fusion’s senior vice president of product management, Petrovici’s new responsibilities will include leading the company’s product vision, strategy, and roadmap. In addition, Petrovici will manage the teams responsible for developing the the company’s core EHR and data platform features. Petrovici hails from Microsoft, where she led the teams that developed Microsoft’s speech and natural language solutions for Cortana, and brings extensive experience in guiding complex development cycles from inception to completion. She graduated from Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. Alongside Filler, Petrovici will serve as a key leader in helping to further focus and hone Practice Fusion’s strategic goals and product initiatives.
