Salesforce Launches Health Cloud, prep ‘post-EHR world’

salesforce

Dive Brief:

  • Health Cloud integrates data from EHRs, medical devices and wearables clinicians can view in a social network-style dashboard interface.
  • Key features include tracking patient’s health, relationships in a patient’s household with doctors and specialists, and internal conversations. In addition, the SaaS suite features the ability to alert care coordinators about medication refills or missed appointments, and enable care coordinators to collaborate and assign tasks across a caregiver’s network.
  • Health Cloud will be integrated with medical devices and EHRs from Epic, Cerner, GE and other vendors.

Dive Insight:

Dr. Joshua Newman, Salesforce chief medical officer, told Healthcare IT News: “We think we are among the pioneers in the post-EHR world. We think about this as precision healthcare.” The concept behind this is what Dr. Newman referred to as “managing patients and not records.”

According to the article, Health Cloud will pull data from multiple apps, smart devices and “is inevitably going to bring a certain degree of disruption to healthcare.” However, Dr. Newman said Salesforce are “disrupting ourselves. We’ve always been horizontal, and now we’re focusing on verticals. One of those is healthcare.”
