Success: Eye Care Center’s swift EHR upgrade

The initial EHR implementation at the Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado led to discontent among staff and clinicians due to challenges, particularly in billing discrepancies and inefficient workflows. These issues prompted the decision to switch EHR systems within a year, with ModMed selected as the new vendor. The focus was on addressing critical concerns, prioritizing reliability over additional features.

Despite the challenges of undergoing a second EHR implementation in a short timeframe, the team placed confidence in ModMed’s tailored and comprehensive plan, specifically designed to tackle their unique challenges. The commitment to improving billing accuracy and efficiency through the revenue cycle management system, along with hands-on support, including virtual and on-site training sessions for staff and clinicians, played a pivotal role in the decision-making process.

The new system, characterized by its user-friendly design and customized functionalities, effectively addressed inefficiencies. Tasks that previously required multiple clicks, such as adding insurance cards or patient charting, were streamlined. The implementation of ModMed’s EHR yielded measurable benefits, resulting in expedited intake processes and more efficient documentation, ultimately saving valuable time for care providers.

Notably, the new EHR promoted enhanced collaboration among specialists, facilitating seamless access to patient notes from various departments. Successful resolution of billing issues, a significant concern, included eliminating duplicate bills and ensuring precise insurance adjustments.

The Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado emphasizes the importance of taking decisive action when an EHR system hampers efficiency and negatively affects the patient experience. The value of robust training support during the transition is underscored, facilitating smoother onboarding and expediting the realization of the benefits provided by the new system.
