Tech Improving Employee Health and Wellness Within the Health Industry

If you are in the health industry, then you need to find ways to optimize your workflow and prevent employees from getting ill. After all, your nurses, doctors, and other employees are of no use to patients if their health and wellness is not in the right condition either. So here is what you should know about new tech that is improving employee health within the medical industry:

Thermometer Tech

In the old days, thermometers had to be reused. You had to slide a new tip on and off for each patient. Of course, there is also the time that it took. Usually several seconds to a minute was a common requirement in order to get an accurate temperature.

 

In addition to that, you had to worry about cross contamination from improper disposal of the old tips, or germs somehow staying on the handle. Not only did this put the patients at greater risk but also the employee. Today, there are thermometers using light technology to shine a beam on the tongue of a patient and get an instant temperature in just a few seconds. It can improve profitability and reduce the spread of illness in your facility.

Blood Testing Without the Prick

Blood testing can tell doctors a lot about a patient. However, it can also open up a whole new variety of issues for employees. If blood accidentally infects them, they can come down with illnesses that the patient had. Newer methods avoid the need for pricking. Instead, they are less painful and use a different, more clean method to avoid the mess and the risk.

Security for Hospital Communications

You might not think of digital security as part of health and wellness, but it is. When a hacker can ambush your computer system, they can open or close doors at will, release dangerous information, or gain access to restricted areas. This puts everyone at risk both physically and digitally. Thus, use modern firewall systems to prevent outside intruders from getting in in the first place.

Vector Predictions for Diseases

When it comes to newer illnesses like the keto flu, it can be hard to tell how and when it will spread. Using AI, you can predict the vector and path it will follow. That way, employees can get out of harm’s way in time to avoid it and also prevent others from being in its path.

Reminders and Alerts

With everyone having a smartphone in their pocket today, there is no reason not to have alert systems built into your communications. Whether it is a special app just for your hospital or a general warning system connected the wall, employees can get alerts when something goes wrong. That way, they can put their backup plan into action quickly. This type of smart detection will prevent a large outbreak from occurring which could bring health issues as well as liabilities.

Shift Scheduling via Web Technology

There is a reason that the government has regulated the health industry so much. In the past, too many professionals were falling asleep or worse while on the job. When this is not monitored, they are not just putting themselves in danger but everyone else too. With smart scheduling, you can make sure that nurses and others are only on call within the limits.

Health and KPI Trackers

Every health metric has a way to track it. However, until now, the tech simply wasn’t there to make it possible or easy. Modern trackers approach your health from a variety of KPI perspectives and instantly report them to the cloud for better analysis and planning.

 

When it comes to the health industry, practitioners are often exposed to some of the most dangerous elements themselves. Far too few people think about how to protect these workers so that they don’t spread illness and disease. However, when you leverage technology to protect those who are at the forefront of patient care, you can prevent disaster and encourage more healthy outcomes all across the board.
