The adoption of electronic medical records was highest at Englewood Health in the state.

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model has awarded Englewood Health a Stage 6 classification, which is the highest rating available for a health system in New Jersey.

The score acknowledges that clinical usage of electronic medical records in the healthcare system is getting close to the highest level at Englewood Hospital and across the Englewood Health Physician Network.

A maturity model assessment called EMRAM is used to gauge how well patients are being treated, how well clinicians are doing, and how well EMR technology is being used to improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.

The eight phases of HIMSS EMRAM, numbered 0 through 7, offer a tried-and-true path to expert-level EMR usage.

According to Englewood Health Chief Information Officer Inderpal Kohli, “Achieving HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6 is a testament to our dedication to adopting cutting-edge technology and seamlessly integrating it into our clinical processes to drive better patient outcomes.”

“This accomplishment demonstrates our steadfast dedication to delivering outstanding patient care by strategically implementing cutting-edge EMR capabilities throughout our healthcare system.”

In order to reach Stage 6, Englewood Health carried out the following: computerized physician order entry for all orderable services; closed-loop medication administration (using technology to prevent medication errors); advanced clinical decision-making support and evidence-based protocols; and full physician documentation (charting) integrated into the EMR and deployed across all practice settings.

Englewood Health has also achieved wearable device integration and sophisticated exchange as a Stage 6 business. For instance, patients in certain specialized areas of the Englewood Health Physician Network utilize wearable technology or implants that enable remote patient care and remote monitoring.
