The Top Features of Solar Panels

solar panels

Exclusive Article by Lindsey Patterson

Protection

The first feature is that they help to protect your roof. This means that you will need to make sure that the roof is in good condition before you install solar panels on your roof. Basically, they will create a protective barrier on your roof that will stop the sunlight, heat, and any other type of weather from directly hitting the roof. Some people have said that the insulation of their property has improved since they installed the panels on their roof. Therefore, their home will stay cooler in the summer months and warmer in the winter months without having to adjust the heat all of the time.

Space

The second feature is that you won’t need to have a lot of space for the panels. In other words, your roof does not have to be large in order for you to install the panels on the roof. Technically, you don’t even need to have a roof in order to have the panels even though it is better because of the obstructions. It is popular to have the panels on the roof because it makes use of wasted space and they will be able to get a lot of sunshine on the roof. The best part is that you will be able to install the panels on anything if you need to. The panels are pretty small so you can be very creative about how and where you want to install them.

Energy

The third feature is that it will give you some energy security even if you are on the grid or completely off the grid. It just means that the people who are on the grid will just have to pay the electricity company for any of the energy that they use outside of the panels. Of course, these prices will fluctuate depending on a variety of different factors like political influences. Plus being on the grid, it will not guarantee that you will have power security. Power outages are something that happen throughout the country, so a lot of people are dealing with blackouts when they are on the grid. But the sun is not going to have a political agenda and you don’t have to pay for the sun.

Maintenance

The fourth feature is that the panels are not going to require a lot of maintenance to work properly. Once you have installed the panels on your roof, you will only need to maintain them about once a year. All that you will need to do is to clean them as part of the maintenance. This is the best way to make sure that the panels will continue to work properly every day. Since there are no moving parts of the panels, they will be very durable. This is one of the reasons why they don’t require a lot of maintenance.

Silent

The fifth feature is that when they are working, they are not going to make a lot of noise. Some of the other things that a person might use for their electricity like power plants or generators will make a lot of noise. Even the green technologies like the heat generators, hydroelectricity devices, and wind turbines can be very noisy. The panels are not going to make any noise at all because all of the energy will be coming from the sun.

Durability

The sixth feature is that they will be very durable. If you buy a quality panel, then it can last you up to 25 years or longer when you properly take care of them. In fact, the panels might last longer than your roof will. The inverter to the panel will only last for about 10 years. Even though that is not as long as the panels will last you, it is long enough for you to be able to see all of the benefits of having the panels installed on your roof.
