Things You Can Do Today To Improve Your Skin

Good skin doesn’t happen overnight. It truly is a process that you have to work at daily to get the skin of your dreams. And even if you put forth your best efforts, things like hormones and genetics also play a part that you don’t have much control over. Even with all that said, there are still small things you can do today to make your skin look its best. Check out the following tips for how you can start having the best skin days.

Get More Red Light

In general, the sun is not a nice friend to your skin. UV exposure is the number one cause of premature aging, not to mention that harmful UVA and UVB rays can potentially cause skin cancer down the line. Your body still needs the light to feel its best though, and that is where red light therapy for skin can help you in a number of ways.

Red light therapy enhances your skin’s balance at the cellular level. That can lead to better collagen production in your skin and brighter skin overall. Over time you will notice that your skin is more glowing and even feels softer and smoother. It’s as simple as sitting in front of a red light lamp for just a few minutes each day.

Keep Your Hands off Your Face

A huge way to help your skin is to make sure you aren’t touching your face. So many of the bacteria and germs that end up on your face are because you have a tendency to touch your face throughout the day. By keeping your hands off your face, you will essentially keep your face cleaner. Keeping your hands off also means you aren’t picking or prodding at any pimples or marks on your skin. That means you are less prone to dark spots and scarring which will make your skin look much clearer over time.

Drink More Water

Water is one of your skin’s best friends. It makes sense since people are made up of so much water, but you might not think about how that affects your skin daily. When you are dehydrated you tend to have skin that isn’t as elastic and pliable. It can also mean dark circles and bags under the eyes look more dramatic. Making sure you get eight glasses of water a day can ensure you are fully hydrated and have plump and glowing skin.

Change Your Sleep

Another way you can improve your skin for tomorrow is to change your sleeping habits. One easy way you can do that is to make sure you are getting sufficient sleep every night. If you aren’t well-rested your body doesn’t have the time it needs each night to heal and repair. Beauty sleep is a real thing.

The way you sleep can also matter. Learning to sleep on your back will do the least amount of damage to your skin. There’s less chance of crinkling around the eyes or mouth that can happen if you are a stomach or side sleeper. If it is too hard to learn how to sleep on your back, then you can potentially get a side sleeper pillow designed to limit creasing on your face while you sleep. It’s a small change that can make a big impact over time.

Keep It Clean

Last but not least, you need to properly cleanse your skin. One wash in the morning before your skin regimen or makeup will suffice, but you should try to double cleanse every evening. The first cleanse is meant to remove all the makeup and surface-level dirt, while the second cleanse will be a thorough cleaning of your actual skin. A clean face is your best chance to put your best face forward for the next day.

Try some of these different approaches to achieving the skin of your dreams. Just a little bit of effort can go a long way to making big improvements. Before you know it, you will have skin that is the envy of all of your friends.
