Top 5 Amazing Breakthroughs in Eye Corrective Surgery

Most eye corrective surgery procedures include the use of a enterprise imaging to correct a patient’s vision. There are various types of laser eye surgeries that fit the needs of every patient. One of the most notable advances in eye corrective surgery is LASIK surgery. This new advancement is seeing competition from other procedures that also include the use of lasers.

The recovery time is faster and easier than ever before. It’s become one of the most important advances in laser eye surgery.

 Since SMILE is a less invasive procedure, the patient’s eyesight and overall health and well-being is also greatly improved. There’s no need to spend time at the doctor’s office. It also doesn’t require the use of multiple instruments. Once the procedure is done, there is less risk of dry eye compared to LASIK and other eye surgeries. Patients can spend time in the sun and return to their normal activities.

LASIK Surgery

LASIK surgery is a procedure that corrects the outer surface of the cornea, making the light refract the way it should. It’s called refractive surgery because it gives patients the vision they no longer need with contact lenses or glasses. LASIK surgery may not suitable if patients suffer from dry eye or have thin corneas.

 LASIK stands for laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis and continues to be one of the most popular eye procedures. It has a high acceptance rate because most patients are successful candidates for this procedure. Most patients are satisfied with the results from their procedures. Leading-edge technology is improving the way that LASIK surgery is performed every day thanks to the WaveLight Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser, IntraLase, and a wavefront guided laser.

Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL)

Not every patient is a successful candidate for LASIK surgery. Implantable contact lenses (ICL) make it possible for patients who want to improve their vision without having any invasive procedures. It allows them to wear an implanted contact lens instead of a removable one. These contacts are only available to patients who don’t suffer from cataracts, but they still want to correct their vision.

 Implantable contact lenses correct the patient’s vision from the inside out. However, nothing changes on the cornea. There are also no risks and side effects involved with wearing these implantable contact lenses.

Wavefront

Wavefront is often referred to as “Custom LASIK.” This technique helps improve and correct one’s vision. It provides a new and unique way of reshaping the conea. Wavefront incorporates a multitude of technologies such as lasers and microsensors. A light wave is reflected through the eye. The sensors detect the light wave and show the cornea that allows for accuracy when correcting the patient’s vision.

 While this is considered a new technique in laser eye surgery, the technology isn’t that old. Wavefront technology was used many years by astronomers who wanted to adjust their telescopes. It was just only introduced to this industry in recent decades when it was revealed that it could be used to correct human vision.

Laser Blended Vision

Patients no longer need glasses to read thanks to Laser Blended Vision. This technique was first started by Pro Dan Reinstein. It helps each eye to see whether up close or at a distance. It’s safe and effective enough to use on 97 percent of people and can geratly reduce the need for wearing reading glasses, bifocals, corrective lenses, or contact lenses.

 Laser Blended vision still has a ways to go. Doctors and scientists are trying to come up with new ways and methods for improving this technique. They want to work on decreasing any level of risk and improving the patient’s overall health and well-being post surgery.

 The breakthroughs n eye corrective surgery wouldn’t have been made possible without these technological advancements.
