hyland healthcare

Healthcare is an important field that has a wide variety of specialty areas. The healthcare industry is vital to our society and job opportunities remain plentiful, making this a good choice of career. A career in the healthcare industry is a lucrative option that comes with a steady paycheck and opportunity for growth.

It is fast-paced, demanding, and can be mentally stimulating and challenging. This career path can call for a lot of training depending on the area you wish to pursue. Working in healthcare gives you the opportunity to work with and help people. It can be a very rewarding career both financially and personally. Check out some of the top healthcare careers below.

Pharmacist

Pharmacists require a college education and additional schooling. They are responsible for dispensing medications and are in charge of the pharmacy setting, making sure the correct drugs and quantities are prepared for the customer. They must be mindful of any potential drug interactions and be able to make recommendations to their patients. Pharmacists work with insurance companies to make sure payments are processed correctly. They can also offer health screening and give injections.

Business Administrator

A business administrator or manager is also a good choice for the healthcare industry. This career does not necessarily mean that you need extensive medical knowledge as you will be overseeing the entire operation to coordinate and manage the human resources, building, finances, and so forth. A good way to look into this career is by pursuing your degree online. The University of Southern California or USC online MBA program is a convenient and affordable way to prepare for this career.

Physician’s Assistant

A physician’s assistant, or PA, works directly with the patients. They are able to diagnose and treat patients and prescribe medications. PA’s work with the doctors and nurses as part of the full treatment staff.

Occupational Therapist Or Physical Therapist

An occupational therapist is similar in that they work with injuries and illnesses. However, an occupational therapist focuses more on everyday activities and helping their patients to be able to complete these activities on their own. These activities include things such as dressing, showering, and caring for themselves in general. A physical therapist works with those who have been injured or ill and need to improve upon their range of motion in a limb or joint.

Speech Pathologist

Speech pathologists work with patients who have had strokes, brain injuries, or have autism. They are responsible for evaluating the patients to make sure they don’t have difficulty swallowing and monitor any problems with speaking. Speech pathologists recommend any therapies and medical interventions needed to help their patients to improve upon these issues and work toward a full recovery.

Registered Nurse

A registered nurse is a vital part of patient care. RN’s work with the doctors and directly with the patients by taking blood pressure, administering injections, and getting medical histories and any other needed information. They assist with patient care and any procedures.

Dietician

A dietitian can help patients to monitor their nutrition for weight loss. They are also instrumental in creating a tailored nutrition plan for those that have special dietary needs or allergies. Proper nutrition and food choices eliminate symptoms and improve overall health conditions. A dietician may work in a hospital or office setting or have their own practice.

Radiology Technician

Radiology Techs work with imaging services such as x-rays. They use the proper equipment to take images of the patient and interpret the findings and pass the information, along with the imaging results, to the doctors for further evaluation and treatment.
