Veradigm introduces AI Scribe for independent and small practices.

EMR Industry

In order to help practitioners save time when creating patient encounter notes and lessen provider burnout, Veradigm has introduced an ambient AI scribe powered by AvodahMed.

Veradigm, previously Allscripts, wants to give independent, small, and midsized practices the choice to stay “fiercely independent” and choose a more manageable, smaller vendor for practice administration and electronic health records.

According to Ian Maurer, vice president of technology at Veradigm, the business started assessing AI scribe providers at the beginning of 2024. He claimed that it selected the cutting-edge AI firm AvodahMed because to its precision, usability, and integration.

“Any clinician can simply download an ambient scribe and save a little time and increase productivity a little bit,” Maurer stated. “In order to optimize that value, we really needed to bring in a partner who could fully integrate into our platform ecosystem. Therefore, we really wanted to push the edge rather than save a few minutes per interaction.

Before launching the AI scribe on the market on November 1, Veradigm carried out a number of pilots in September and October. According to Maurer, the approach saved seven to ten minutes on average every interaction during the test period.

In contrast to scribing solutions that are just partially or not at all connected, Maurer praised AvodahMed’s strong integration, claiming that it enables clinicians to save more time. “Veradigm and AvodahMed collaborated closely to integrate the product so that doctors can initiate the scribe encounter without leaving the EHR system,” Maurer stated.

The program promptly creates the clinical or billing notes the practitioner requires following the visit and adds discrete patient data, including vital signs, to the EHR.

The majority of independent, small, and midsized healthcare companies employ Veradigm’s suite of clinical EHR solutions. According to Maurer, Veradigm provides a substitute for the major EHR providers and, because to its flexibility and customization features, may be a better option for independent small practices.

“The majority of our clients prefer to maintain their independence and avoid being bound by a closed ecosystem,” Maurer stated.

Veradigm provides payers, health organizations, and providers with more cutting-edge quality and analytics solutions. Veradigm provides a payer clearinghouse and practice management system in addition to the EHR.
