Our physical condition is extremely vital in promoting overall health and our physical condition is what allows us to do activities that are impactful to our mental, emotional, and social condition. In actuality, the aforementioned types of health are all interconnected with one another. One can have effects on the other.  For example, the poor mental condition can lead to deterioration of physical condition; it could also be the other way around, a physical condition affecting the mental condition, the mental condition can also have an influence on the emotional condition and vice versa, and so on and so forth. Our different types of health should not be treated separately. However, in this article, we will focus on the importance of our physical condition.

Physical health is defined as the condition of our body, from the absence of alarming conditions to fitness levels. Factors that can affect it are genetics, environment, quality of healthcare services, and lifestyle.

Genes affect our body in the sense that we inherit attributes from our bloodline that could make it easier or harder for us to achieve a good physical state. Health conditions passed on to us can also play a role in having a healthy body.

The environmental factors, that we get exposed to, can affect our bodies detrimentally. The environment contains a lot of toxic substances that are harmful to our bodies.

Healthcare services are also important in achieving a well-conditioned body. High-quality healthcare services can prevent, treat, and detect illnesses efficiently.

Our lifestyle affects our bodies in the sense that our diet has effects on our bodies. The right diet is essential in achieving good health while a poor diet makes us prone to diseases. Furthermore, doing vices like smoking and drinking affects us adversely and our level of physical activity also impacts our body significantly. More activity means more exercise.

Physical activity or exercise is essential in reducing the risks of developing various diseases and achieving a healthy body. It provides a lot of benefits to us and can improve the quality of our lives. Doing exercises regularly can improve our state of mind. Studies show that doing exercises can release endorphins to our brain which improves our mood and makes us feel good. It also boosts our energy levels. Exercising provides us oxygen and nutrients which helps us function more efficiently. Studies also show that doing physical activities can help improve the quality of our sleep. Being active in the day helps us fall and stay asleep. Having good and sufficient sleep is vital in improving mental wellbeing. Click here for more benefits of doing exercise.

Unfortunately for some people, there are factors that hinder them from doing activities. Injuries, disabilities, diseases or other bodily abnormalities have prevented many people from doing activities and carrying out tasks. Undergoing surgery for body function issues is very costly, good thing there is an alternative treatment for it.

Physiotherapy

Physical therapy or physiotherapy is the branch of rehabilitative science that aims to help patients restore and improve their bodily movement and functional ability using specially modified exercises and equipment. Physiotherapists aim to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of patients by attending to their physical needs. They tend to people whose movements are impaired by injury, diseases, ailments, abnormalities, defects, or aging; babies born with musculoskeletal defects, people suffering from after effects of injury and surgery, and post stroke patients, among others. Physiotherapist also aims to promote physical ability and prevent deterioration of bodily functions.

In therapy, patients will undergo a thorough examination of bodily functions such as posture, movement, flexibility, muscle performance, and joint motion. Physiotherapist will then evaluate the results and formulate clinical judgments, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of action. They will then implement a physiotherapy and intervention program based on the diagnosis.  The outcome of the treatment and intervention program will be determined and self-management recommendations will be provided thereafter.

Physiotherapy can help people return to their normal level of functioning. It is important that we are able to regain our ability to move as it can encourage activities that can help us become healthy. A Winnipeg physiotherapist says that going to therapy is essential if we want to improve our overall health and wellbeing. Not only is the therapy for rehabilitation, but it is also helpful in preventing disabilities.

It is very important that we keep our bodies healthy and fit. A well-conditioned body allows us to do what we are supposed to do. Doing regular exercise is essential if we want to have a healthy body. Abnormalities in our body will prevent us from doing exercises and that is why it is important that we treat them as soon as possible. Visiting a physiotherapist is helpful in addressing such problems with our bodies. As mentioned above, the condition of our body affects other aspects of our health. Undergoing therapy will not only have an effect on our physical health, but it will also impact our mental, emotional, and social health.
