What Are the Types of PEMF Devices That Support Neuropathy?

Neuropathy is an extremely impeding disease where one finds it difficult to perform even the simplest of tasks. The aggrieved person experiences tingling pain on the hands and feet. While many things can activate Neuropathy symptoms, the disease itself is not curable. All one can do is manage the pain.

One such way of treating the pain is PEMF. But how are PEMF and Neuropathy connected? Should you invest in a personal PEMF device or head to a professional?

PEMF

PEMF or Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy refers to an innovative treatment involving electrotherapy. The PEMF device releases low or mild electrical magnetic current to treat small fractures and tears.

Using the device increases blood flow to the affected area, reducing inflammation and pain. PEMF therapy is safe to use with other health treatments and medications.

Neuropathy

Neuropathy refers to peripheral nerve damage. With nerve damage, patients report feelings of numbness or a tingling sensation. There is also muscle weakness and pain in the hands and feet.

Poor diet, traumatic injuries, infections, and even genes can trigger Neuropathy. Neuropathy presents itself in different forms in patients, so there isn’t one treatment that fits all.

PEMF Treatment for Neuropathy

PEMF and Neuropathy go hand in hand. PEMF devices work by charging the cells in the body. When charged, the cells release adenosine triphosphate or ATP. With more ATP produced, the blood’s oxygen level rises, leading to better blood circulation, and the body absorbs essential nutrients better.

On a simplified level, when using PEMF, the cells receive the low frequencies. Upon receiving the frequency, the cells charge up. The cells start keeping out harmful viruses from the body.

Doctors prescribe PEMF therapy to many due to its non-invasive nature. Patients can supplement this therapy with prescribed medications. Studies prove that medications can be more effective when used together with PEMF treatments.

Types of PEMF devices

The market has several PEMF devices. Some are portable and used alone, but some need a professional’s assistance.

Band-Style

The band-style PEMF device is similar to a smartwatch or a bracelet at first glance. Some band-style PEMF devices are smartphone-compatible and controlled through a dedicated app. It is portable, light, and concealable.

Others in the same category come with a controller and two wrap-around pads, much like a blood pressure checking machine. The frequency ranges from 2 Hz to 82 Hz. They are perfect for a quick cure for migraines and sports injuries.

Body Mats

Body mat style PEMF devices resemble yoga mats. It is thick and padded and comes with additional features like light therapy, heating ability, and sound systems. This style is also utilized in professional treatment centers.

Body mats can be spread out on the floor and used right before going to bed. Besides reducing inflammation and pain, it will also promote better sleep.

Numerous studieshave shown that PEMF does aid in relieving pain in Neuropathy. PEMF devices do not need expert supervision when used at home. It is essential to research before buying a device. Please buy it from a credible source. Your doctor needs to sign off on the decision, too, before making the purchase.
