7 Things To Keep Your Joints Healthy

Healthy joints are crucial to a healthy body – not only are they necessary for your mobility, they are an absolute necessity if you wish to lead a healthy and wholesome life, without having to depend on anyone for help or aid. While you cannot prevent injuries, they are certain things you can do to keep your joints healthy and in good shape.

1. Maintain your weight

A healthy BMI contributes to your body being in good shape overall. Being overweight contributes to putting extra strain on your joints and weakens them. This added pressure on your joints can affect their health significantly in the long run, and by maintaining a good weight you can ensure that you are doing your part in ensuring your joint health.

2. Be active

By exercising regularly and moving around throughout the day, you can ensure that your joints remain active and thus reduce any stiffness that you might have. Whether you opt for low or high impact exercises, each of them help and contribute to your joints’ health while maintaining a healthy weight as well. It is important to note that in any exercise you prefer, having and using the right gear is of immense importance otherwise you would risk further damaging your joints.

3. Get professional help

You should consider getting help from professional orthopedic doctors. Victorian Bone & Joint is a professional team of doctors that specializes in bone health, and they use imaging technology, rehabilitation, modern techniques and physiotherapy to detect and heal bone heath as and when needed.

4. Get your bone density checked

You can make use of a simple bone X-ray test that allows you to get your bone health checked by checking bone density. It tests the density of minerals in your bones and helps doctors determine the risk of you getting diagnosed with osteoporosis in the future. The test is quick and painless.

5. You should consider hormone therapy

Hormone therapy is great for women who feel they may have symptoms of menopause. This is because hormone therapy for women helps build and maintain estrogen levels in their bodies which are good for maintaining bone and joint health.

6. Take care of your diet

Not only does eating healthy help you maintain your weight, it also contributes to maintaining your bone and joint health. Lean proteins, Vitamin C, yellows, greens, Vitamin D and calcium help greatly towards the health of your bone and joint. Additionally, if you suffer from inflammation in your joints, you should eat omega-3 containing foods, olive oil, berries and olives.

7. Practice strength training

Exercises that feature strength training are great for individuals who suffer from knee pain, arthritis and any deficiencies. Since you cannot carry weights if you have any such issues, strength training allows you to build essential bone and joint health by carrying low weights with repetitions.

Your lifestyle in your old age is decided by how healthy your bones and joints are – if you have healthy joints, you are likely to enjoy a free and active lifestyle. If not, you’d likely be dependent upon help from a number of sources. Hence, it is necessary to take care of your bone health.
