How likely is it that someone is going to break into your home? According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s website, in 2019, there were 1,117,696 burglaries within the United States, leaving numerous homeowners vulnerable to intrusion and robbery.

So what can you do to bolster your security and minimize the chance that this situation happens to you? There are many options available, from adding major equipment to considering how you maintain your yard. Homeowners should think through their home’s possible exposure points and plan to strengthen them. The following are five things that could work for you.

1. Invest in Cybersecurity Systems

Intruders don’t have to walk through the front door. They can access your personal information and accounts by coming through the internet within your home. These hackers work hard to gain entry and infiltrate your financial statements. Therefore, it’s critical to consider solidifying your internet connection with some form of cybersecurity system like Zero Trust.

In addition, read articles regularly on what you can do to reduce your weaknesses and improve your online decisions. Be wary of downloads and unusual websites. You could add a virus to your computer and allow others inside with a simple click. Protect your passwords, and change them often as well.

2. Fortify Doors and Windows

Like the doors, you could buy a smart garage door system so you can be aware of what is going on at all times. Being in the loop could prevent breaking down from happening.

5. Install Cameras

As a child, you probably avoided specific actions when mom and dad were in the room. When their eyes were on you, chances significantly increased of getting caught. Cameras are consistent eyes on your property, and if criminals see them, they could turn away.
