Avanos Medical Acquires Nexus Medical to Enhance Critical Care Nutrition and Medication Delivery

avanos-EMR industry

ALPHARETTA, Ga., Sept. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Avanos Medical, Inc. (NYSE: AVNS), a leading medical technology company, announced the acquisition of Nexus Medical, LLC, a privately held medical device firm based in Lenexa, Kansas.

Nexus manufactures the proprietary TKO® anti-reflux needleless connector, designed to ensure safer and more reliable nutrition and medication delivery in critical care settings such as Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (NICUs and PICUs).

This acquisition complements Avanos’ Specialty Nutrition Systems business and strengthens its commitment to providing safe, effective therapy solutions for neonatal patients.

“This deal aligns with our strategy to deliver smarter, safer critical care solutions,” said Dave Pacitti, Avanos CEO. “We’re excited to integrate Nexus TKO® technology and expand our portfolio, investing in innovations that support clinicians in delivering consistent care and improving patient outcomes.”

The TKO® connector features a patented, pressure-activated tri-seal silicone valve that reduces blood reflux—a key factor in catheter blockages, therapy delays, and infection risks during IV nutrition and medication delivery.\*

“Kerr Holbrook, Avanos’ chief commercial officer, added, “Nexus TKO® is a natural fit for our Specialty Nutrition Systems and will bring immediate value to NICU and PICU care. It’s a trusted, practical solution that helps clinicians minimize interruptions and provide therapy more consistently and easily.”

Avanos funded the acquisition using available cash and anticipates it will immediately boost both revenue growth and earnings per share.
