Dubai rolls out NABIDH clinical portal training to boost healthcare system efficiency

EMR Industry

Empowering healthcare providers with immediate access to a patient’s complete medical history.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has introduced a new training initiative designed to enhance awareness and strengthen healthcare professionals’ skills in using the National Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health (NABIDH) Clinical Portal—an essential element of Dubai’s digital healthcare transformation strategy.

To date, 400 healthcare professionals have completed the training program, which is accessible online via the DHA’s website through the MAWAHEB e-services for medical education.

The NABIDH training course offers comprehensive guidance for Dubai-licensed doctors, nurses, dentists, and allied health professionals on how to effectively navigate the platform. This 50-minute course features interactive assessments and is accredited with one Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit.

NABIDH is central to the DHA’s continued drive to digitize healthcare, connecting over 1,500 healthcare providers and securely housing more than 9.5 million electronic medical records. The platform ensures each patient has a unified medical file that can be accessed across healthcare facilities throughout Dubai.

The course provides healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to:

  • Log in to and efficiently navigate the NABIDH Clinical Portal

  • Locate and access a patient’s unified medical record

  • Interpret the main components of a patient’s chart

  • View and download comprehensive patient summary reports

  • Utilize the portal’s features to support well-informed clinical decisions

By granting healthcare providers immediate access to a patient’s complete medical history — including imaging reports — NABIDH greatly speeds up diagnosis, enables personalized treatment planning, and promotes seamless collaboration among healthcare institutions. This helps eliminate unnecessary testing and enhances continuity of care, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
