TruCode provides students with encoder tools to prepare for transition from education to clinical setting

Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today that it has integrated TruCode’s Encoder Essentials®, a web services solution for clinical coding, into SimChart® for the Medical Office and the resources to support 2015 Step by Step Medical Coding by Carol J. Buck. SimChart for the Medical Office is the industry’s first academic EHR and practice management product to offer students an integrated encoder.

TruCode, which provides an encoder application, components and web services to healthcare providers, consultants and healthcare IT companies, is used by more than 1,800 professionals in more than 450 healthcare organizations. Integration with SimChart for the Medical Office and 2015 Step by Step Medical Coding will give students experience with sophisticated code searches and access to comprehensive code books, helping to simplify the coding process and enrich learning.

“Unlike a traditional encoder interface, TruCode’s integration with Elsevier’s SimChart for the Medical Office enables all coding education to be done within one application, by providing instant access to pertinent coding tools,” said, Mike Mulligan, Managing Partner, TruCode.

“Providing students with exposure to an encoder tool as part of the educational experience is important, and will only become more crucial to medical office education as coding evolves to meet new regulatory changes,” stated John Danaher, President, Elsevier Education. “Using realistic practice tools such as TruCode will ensure that they are well prepared to enter the workforce.”
