Cardiology deals with the study of heart functioning, circulatory system, blood vessel functioning etc. any defects in the heart or heart functioning leads to heart diseases. Heart diseases include Congenital heart defects (heart diseases in new born & in children), Arrhythmias (heart rhythm problems), Rheumatic heart disease, Ischemic heart disease etc.

Each year Heart diseases & Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) causes 4 million deaths in continent Europe and over 2 million deaths in the European Union. CVD accounts for 43% of all deaths in Europe and 35% of all deaths in the EU & according to WHO (World Health Organization) and the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. The number of US adults diagnosed with heart disease stands at 26.6 million (11.3% of adult population), 23.5% of all deaths in the USA today are caused by heart disease.
