ehr for oncology

McKesson Specialty Health EHRs recognized for strong performance by

industry-leading research firm Black Book Rankings

The Woodlands, Texas (February 11, 2015) — For the fourth consecutive year, iKnowMedSM has been named the top-ranked electronic health record (EHR) platform for oncologists and hematologists by Black Book Rankings, a division of Black Book Market Research, an unbiased source for polling, surveys and market research.

The 2015 Black Book annual rankings were compiled based on feedback from more than 27,000 validated EHR users nationwide. More than 500 EHR vendors were ranked across 18 performance criteria, and iKnowMed was recognized for its superior focus on meeting the unique needs of community-based oncology practices. iKnowMed received top rankings in 12 key performance areas, including vendor overall preference, innovation, training, reliability, data security and Meaningful Use to name a few.

“Being recognized four years in a row as the best EHR for oncologists showcases the iKnowMed team’s dedication to providing the most effective products,” said Jeff Kao, chief information officer and senior vice president of Information & Technology Services for McKesson Specialty Health and The US Oncology Network. “Our technology team listens to customers and turns feedback into useful improvements. That’s why iKnowMed is continuously highly-ranked. We are committed to evolving our products and invested in meeting the needs of community oncology.”

Currently, iKnowMed EHR and iKnowMed Generation 2, both first and second stage Meaningful Use Certified, are implemented in more than 550 sites of care nationwide and used by more than 1,550 providers. iKnowMed Generation 2, developed in collaboration with oncologists in The US Oncology Network and supported by McKesson Specialty Health, is a web-based EHR developed to meet the unique needs of community-based oncologists. iKnowMed Generation 2 was engineered with the latest interoperability standards in mind, so information may be exchanged with other electronic systems that have and need patient care details, including other EHR systems used in collaborating practices and hospitals.

“The McKesson Specialty Health technology team has a continued commitment to creating, improving and implementing next generation, innovative products that help providers advance oncology care,” said Dan Lodder, vice president and general manager of Technology Solutions for McKesson Specialty Health. “Our long-term collaboration with oncologists, cancer care nurses and practice staff provides us the insight to develop a technology platform that truly caters to those who specialize in high-quality cancer care.”

iKnowMed Generation 2 integrates its advanced EHR capabilities with other advanced healthcare technology modules. Integrated modules include Clear Value PlusSMan integrated software solution for Clinical Quality and Regimen Support; My Care Plus SM an oncology-focused custom-designed patient portal which provides more than 180,000 enrolled patients secure, online access to their health records; Lynx Mobile® technology for Inventory and Purchasing Management; and TotalViewSM Generation 2 technology for Revenue Cycle Reporting. Together, these modules and this best-in-class technology platform are designed to help practices deliver high-quality patient care, safely; advancing a practice’s ability to deliver an integrated care experience for both patients and their comprehensive care-giving team.
