Ericom Software, a global leader in application access and desktop virtualization solutions, today announced that Frasier Meadows, a Colorado-based CCRC living facility, has deployed Ericom AccessNow to deliver browser-based access to an electronic health records (EHR) system. The Colorado-based CCRC chose Ericom over a complex virtual private network (VPN) system to give non-employee physicians flexible BYOD access to patient information from personal devices, e.g., laptops and iPads.
Frasier Meadows utilizes Answers on Demand (AOD), a third party EHR application widely used among 800 nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
“We wanted to make it really easy for doctors to open up a browser and get to work with AOD,” stated Jerry Frohlich, IT System Specialist at Frasier Meadows. “Ericom has made this possible. By simply entering a URL or clicking a saved link, the doctors can go straight into the AOD login screen; they don’t even see a remote desktop – just the app they need.”
With AccessNow, there is zero installation or maintenance on the endpoint devices, reducing support calls and freeing up IT resources to focus on other projects.
“Setup was really easy and Ericom’s tech support was fantastic,” stated Bob Lang, Network Systems at Frasier Meadows. “Setting up a VPN for a non-employee doctor can be problematic. By going with Ericom AccessNow, we’ve eliminated both the need for a VPN and the support headache of deploying and maintaining desktop devices.”
