How to Prepare for Treatments with Cosmetic Injections

Humanity still didn’t discover the fountain of youth. Still, it seems people are close to that. For now, the science came up with innovative solutions with rejuvenating effects – cosmetic injectables. As seen on www.cstdirect.com, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are an excellent option for a fight against the signs of aging. If administered by professionals, these treatments give outstanding results.

Both fillers and anti-wrinkle solutions are temporary, so you have to repeat the intervention after some time. The results are visible soon after the first treatment. Still, you will have the only guarantee for them if this procedure is performed by experts, cosmetic surgeons or certified injectors.

Prepare for the Consultation

Before scheduling treatment, consultation with a doctor is a must. This check-up provides a detailed insight into the layout and structure of your facial muscles because they can differ significantly in humans. That can help the doctor with determining the individual treatment plan.

After examining the facial muscles, the surgeon will decide where they will give you the injections. These are usually spots where fine lines appear when you frown. Stabbing you on random places won’t have any effect, as injection solutions should act on muscles that cause wrinkles.

When you see the injector for the first time, you’ll probably discuss your current health condition. Don’t miss to inform them if you suffer any chronic disease or you’re pregnant or breastfeed. Although the risks of cosmetic injectables are minimal, these conditions increase the risk of side effects.

Mention anything you think might be contraindicated with the treatment. You must report any change in your health condition or anything that may interfere with the procedure or the course of recovery.

Make a List of Questions

At the first appointment, you will get answers to all possible questions. But, in order to know what the doctor says to you, you need some prior knowledge. You need to understand what types of treatments exist, how different types of injection solutions work, the basics of aftercare, etc. Be sure to write down what bothers you, and make sure to clarify any dilemma before making a final decision.

The good medical practice imposes that doctors inform you about the procedure itself, the recovery process, but also possible side effects. You have to understand these risks before you decide for any treatment with cosmetic injectables. It means you must be responsible both before and after the intervention.

Do Nothing with Your Face

Let your face rest, at least a week before the scheduled cosmetic injection treatment. The procedure of injecting Botox or dermal fillers will go smoother if your face is clean and the skin untreated. If you have any doubts, the list of questions you could ask the injector find here.

Facial treatments performed in beauty salons are often abrasive and aggressive towards the skin. Removing dead cells and facial hair (tweezing, waxing, and bleaching) open the pores and boost the surface blood flow. That is good because fast circulation nourishes the skin and allows it to breathe. Still, try to postpone these treatments for later.

Namely, injectables like Botox and fillers have a ‘shelf life.’ It means they lose their properties after a while, so you have to repeat the procedure. If you do any peeling or hair removal on your face, blood vessels will dilate, allowing fillers to go faster throughout the body. That can shorten the time between two treatments.

Take Care of Medication Use

cosmetic injection

The use of cosmetic injectables is safe if performed by certified professionals. Yet, not everyone is a suitable candidate for these treatments. For example, if you’re on mandatory therapy with some of the blood-thinning drugs, you shouldn’t undergo cosmetic procedures using Botox and fillers. Or, if you decide to do so, make sure to consult your physician to suggest a replacement drug.

If you use analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs from time, avoid them a week before treatment. The same goes for vitamin A and E-based supplements. They have been shown to affect blood vessel dilation and blood thinning, and thus increase the risk of side effects.

Limit Alcohol and Cigarette Intake

The goal of preparation for treatment with cosmetic injectables is to make the whole intervention as painless and fast as possible. Also, good preparation will mean less risk of side effects as well as faster recovery. Radical lifestyle changes are not necessary, but you need to cut some bad habits like cigarette and alcohol intake.

Cosmetic injectables are relatively safe treatments, but in combination with alcohol, they can cause some side effects. To avoid downtime after cosmetic injections, don’t drink alcohol for at least two to three days before the procedure (preferably longer). Because of its blood-thinning effect, bleeding, bruising, and swelling may occur when the doctor stabs you. Bruises and swellings may last for weeks.

Smoking is another bad habit that leaves marks even on young skin. People who smoke too much should try to cut the cigarettes before and after treatment with Botox or fillers, to speed up the recovery. If, on the other hand, you continue to inhale nicotine, know that the effect of cosmetic injections will be shorter.

Avoid Sun Exposure

The sun-kissed complexion is attractive and always in trend. But if you plan to undergo anti-wrinkle treatment or any intervention that involves dermal fillers, forget about sunbathing for a while. That applies both to the period before and after the procedure. You have to protect your face from the Sun for at least a week before and after treatment with injectables.

High heat improves circulation and dilates vessels, which improves blood supply in your face. That’s convenient for the appearance of bruises. That’s not something you want to happen. Also, the needle won’t pass easily through tanned skin as it’s dry on the surface.

Although the procedure of giving injections is not demanding, you have to prepare for these treatments. Needless to say, it’s necessary to follow all the advice and instructions of the doctor, both before and after the procedure.
