iPatientCare EHR Users Goes Paperless by e-Prescribing Controlled Substances

bi for healthcare

iPatientCare, Inc., a pioneer in mHealth and cloud based ambulatory EHR, integrated Practice Management and Patient Portal solutions announced the successful implementation of its EPCS ready EHR and Practice Management System among its user base to provide complete end-to-end ePrescribing capabilities.

Electronic prescribing for controlled substances was not permitted until recently. iPatientCare wascertified for e-prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) much before the earlier I-STOP e-prescribing mandate in the state of New York. Although New York recently extended the deadline to March 27, 2016, iPatientCare started releasing the new EPCS feature to all its end users during the last quarter and iPatientCare prescribers are now receiving all benefits of EPCS.

Since prescribing of controlled substances is highly regulated, enabling EPCS feature requited required a few additional steps, such as identity proofing, issuance of two-factor authentication credentials and setting of logical access control to EPCS function. iPatientCare deployed a special task-force and made this process very simple for their providers by conducting a series of webinars and providing them online tutorials.

“I have been using the iPatientCare application of ePrescribing Controlled Substances for approximately a month and have had nothing but success. It allows us to be more efficient and gives our patients the convenience of not having to drop off a script at the pharmacy and having to wait. The sign up process was easy and quick. We would recommend this service for any medical practice. Two thumbs up!” said Muhammad S Idrees, MD, FAAP, FAAC, a delighted iPatientCare user.

“iPatientCare users have been enjoying the use of intuitive ICD-10 features with dual-coding ability, which has prepared them well-ahead of the mandated compliance date. With this added feature, iPatientCare users now have access to complete end-to-end ePrescribing capabilities in awards-winning, easy-to-use, Cloud-based EHR.” – Shripal Shah, Senior Technology Officer, iPatientCare, Inc.
