BIO-key International announced today that hospitals across four Americans states have placed initial purchase orders for its biometrics technology. The orders, made by hospitals in New York, Ohio, Kentucky and California, add up to a combined value of $130,000.
According to BIO-key, the initial contracts with these hospitals will represent over $400,000 in revenue for 2015 since full rollouts of the tech are expected to begin before the end of this year’s first quarter.
A company that specializes in fingerprint biometric identification for many facets of the healthcare industry, BIO-key entered this particular vertical market in 2006. Since then, it has made a point of partnering with leading providers of electronic health record (EHR) platform providers. The company’s partners in this respect include Allscripts, Epic, HealthCast and IBM.

Healthcare practitioners are poor on time and in the medical profession a few seconds can make all the difference. That said, medical records are extremely valuable and need to be protected with the utmost security.
