The Council of Accountable Physician Practices (CAPP), a coalition of visionary and respected medical group and health systems leaders, has added two new members to its roster. Advocate Health Care, Chicago and North Shore- LIJ, New York have joined the organization. CAPP is an affiliate of the American Medical Group Foundation.

“We are pleased to welcome Advocate Health Care and North Shore-LIJ to our organization of physician leaders and integrated healthcare organizations, who are dedicated to the improvement of the healthcare delivery system for the benefit of all Americans,” said Robert Pearl, M.D., chairman of the board of the Council of Accountable Physician Practices (CAPP).

The twenty-six CAPP members are committed to providing Americans with access to coordinated healthcare that is convenient and available. As integrated medical groups, they are dedicated to the following five principles for improved healthcare delivery:

  • Doctors and medical groups actively coordinate the healthcare services patients need.
  • Doctors work as partners in maintaining patients’ health by taking a proactive and preventive approach to healthcare.
  • There is good teamwork between the primary care doctors, specialists and the doctor’s supporting staff.
  • Doctors and the medical staff are up to date in clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Doctors’ practices use information technologies including electronic medical records that allow the doctor and medical team to provide the best care possible.

Members of CAPP include large medical groups such as the Mayo ClinicCleveland ClinicGeisinger ClinicHenry Ford Medical Group,Intermountain Healthcare, The Permanente Federation and others.
