Lee Memorial Health System

Lee Memorial Health System Our origins can be traced to the Fall of 1916 when a group of community leaders set aside 300 dollars, and donated lumber from the dismantled Court House, to build the first hospital in Fort Myers. That first hospital, Lee County Hospital, a two story, four room, 10 bed, wooden building was the beginning of community health care in our area.

Today, Lee Health consists of four acute care hospitals: Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center and Cape Coral Hospital, and two speciality hospitals: Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida and The Rehabilitation Hospital. With a total of 1426 beds, and over 1 million patient contacts each year, this makes Lee Health the largest public health system in the state of Florida, receiving no direct tax support.

Supported by more than 13,000 dedicated employees and 4,500 volunteers and auxilians, Lee Health remains the bedrock of our community by offering acute care, emergency care, rehabilitative and diagnostic services, health and wellness education, community outreach and advocacy programs throughout the five county region. We continue to invest back into our community to improve facilities, add services and extending care to those who need it most – in their own back yard.

In the nearly 100 years since opening our first hospital, our dedication to our community – the people with whom we live and work – has been at the core of Lee Health’s mission, values and strategic planning principles.

Lee Memorial Health System is committed to conducting business in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. As part of our business philosophy and to ensure compliance, we have developed our Standards of Conduct and our Investigator Financial Conflict of Interest documents. All employees, volunteers, physicians, and vendors are responsible for adhering to our standards.

The physicians, providers and staff of Lee Health and Lee Physician Group would like to thank you for choosing us for your health care needs. Every day we strive to improve our services and provide the best possible patient care.

Our mission at Lee Health is to provide our patients with the highest quality health care. To accomplish this we want to hear about your experience with the health providers who helped care for you during your time with us. Lee Health partners with National Research Corporation to help measure patient satisfaction. National Research Corporation conducts a random sampling of patients who have used various Lee Health services. This includes services among the entire continuum of care, including a stay at one of our hospitals; visit to an outpatient facility or the emergency department; a physician office visit; inpatient rehabilitation; and Home Health.

We know that choosing a health care provider is an important decision and we appreciate your confidence in us. At Lee Health our medical staff, nurses, hospital and administrative staff, and volunteers will provide the best possible care. Everyone within Lee Health is dedicated to making your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We wish you a full and speedy recovery. We continuously look for ways to improve our services and welcome any comments and suggestions that might help us in our mission. Your feedback is very important to us as we strive to make Lee Health the best patient- and family-centered health care system possible.

Patients living with cancer have complex needs that go beyond medical treatment. Lee Health offers broad-ranging expertise to help patients and families navigate the sometimes complex psychological, emotional, logistical and financial aspects of cancer care.

Located throughout Lee Health, specially trained cancer navigators are available to help patients and families navigate their way through the often overwhelming maze of appointments, procedures and emotional feelings. They are available to explain all aspects of care, answer questions, help with scheduling and offer knowledgeable and friendly support during a difficult time.
