As far back as the early 1990s, our founders noticed a significant increase in the amount of duplicate and incomplete patient records while implementing interface engines. As more applications integrated with other systems, it became apparent that there was no easy way to see if the information being shared referenced the same patient. Thus, the proliferation of duplicate records and the need for a common patient identifier. This was more than a technology problem to solve, it was a patient safety one.

With the goal of finding a way to compare and accurately match patient records, our founders developed the MatchMetrix® platform to power a vendor neutral Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).
