Northwest School-Innovate

Northwest School Innovate the Northwest School of Innovative Learning is an academic and therapeutic learning program designed for students from kindergarten through high school who are unable to successfully navigate traditional school settings. We offer a comprehensive and therapeutic program that helps meet the academic, special education, and behavioral health needs of students from school districts throughout the Puget Sound region. A full academic curriculum is individually tailored, along with therapeutic treatment needs northwest school innovate

Northwest School of Innovative Learning is approved through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and is an Extended School Year (ESY) program open throughout the year, including a summer session, to provide students with uninterrupted education and therapeutic support. Placements at the Northwest School of Innovative Learning are handled through school district representatives.

The school is fully funded by school districts resources. Prospective parents, agencies, and schools are encouraged to contact us for information regarding our program and criteria for admission. We currently serve school districts in King, Mason, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston Counties.

Our goal at the Northwest School of Innovative Learning (NWSOIL) is to work closely with school districts to create an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that suits each child’s specific needs. NWSOIL equally balances academics and behavioral management in the classroom by providing a strong core curriculum and implementation of mental health therapies and therapeutic interventions. Our students are able to acquire more adaptive coping skills through group therapy and behavior modification within a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

Your child may be a good fit if they need support with:

  • Disruptive behavior patterns in home and school
  • Inability to progress academically in a standard school setting
  • Inability to succeed in school-based special education programs
  • Failure in a variety of school settings due to emotional or behavioral disability
  • Difficulties with social skills and peer relations
  • Depression and social isolation
  • Bipolar disorder and mood disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Limited problem solving skills and poor insight
  • Attention deficit or hyperactivity disorder
  • Impulsive and compulsive behaviors
  • Truancy
  • Opposition or defiance with authority figures
  • Anger management and aggressive behavior problems

NWSOIL is fully funded by school district resources and approved through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction; placements are handled through school district representatives. Prospective parents, agencies, and schools are encouraged to contact their local school district for information regarding criteria for admission. We currently serve the counties of King, Snohomish, Mason, Pierce, and Thurston counties.
